Ness was introduced to music at the age of four. He was at Western Springs stadium on a stage next to
the keyboardist from the Wailers watching a Bob Marley performance- live. He was raised by his grandmother, but having a musical father he was also raised with a daily soundtrack. It not only included reggae, but it also included Stevie Wonder, Maceo Parker, James Brown, The Gap Band, and the classic Motown artists. So, considering he listened to songs as a kid, and his father was a musician,
it was more or less likely his father inspired him.

Something you may not know about Che, he is actually a type 2 diabetic. He went to a school (Tangaroa
College in Ōtara) and rapped a song about fighting sugar (Tangaroa College is taking part in the sugar-free programme about students’ sugar consumption). Che Fu’s rap.
Another thing you might not know is that Che had made a faulty shooting tweet. He posted a tweet saying he walked into a shooting, a man was shot, and the shooter was still on the loose. All while police were dealing with a bomb threat (which turned out to just be a suitcase). He apologised saying-
Another thing you might not know is that Che had made a faulty shooting tweet. He posted a tweet saying- "In hindsight, I think that might not have been the wisest thing, to those involved, I'm sorry. I did not want to mislead anyone, that's not my thing."

Carbohydrates - HEc - Term 4

Carbohydrates

Simple
Simple carbohydrates are basically just sugar. Fructose and Glucose. Sugar is found from fruits (fructose). The sugar is found in fruit and dairy products.

Complex
Complex carbohydrates are mostly starchy foods. Like grains, oatmeal, and potatoes.

Sources
Complex carbs are found in bread, beans, and corn, etc.
Simple carbs are found in sweet foods, like unhealthy cereal, or lollies, and fizzy drinks.

What Is Their Function?
Simple carbs usually last a shorter amount of time but complex carbs last a lot longer. For example, if you had chocolate chip biscuits for lunch, you'd be starving by dinner. But if you had a whole meal sandwich you wouldn't be so hungry.

Why was our Pita Pocket^ such a good source of CHO?
Because it had a lot of healthy things like tomato, and lettuce, and then it had chicken. We only had one each, but it was very filling.

Safety Gear - Metal Tech Term 4

 Safety Gear

For this blog post, I'm going to talk about the different types of safety gear. From overalls to eye protection, to ear protection, to head protection, to foot protection. In the following, I will be describing and explaining the purpose of different gear;

Bib Overalls:
This type of overall covers the body except for the arms and part of the
shoulders.
Complete Overall:
This type of overall covers the whole body except the head, hands,
and feet.
Welding Gloves:
These gloves cover the hands while you’re welding. They are quite
thick so you are able to handle hot materials. But just be careful and
hold the hot object firmly otherwise it may slip through your grip.
Safety Glasses:
These glasses are a plastic cover for your eyes. They protect them
from any debris or other kinds of danger from flicking up into your eyes.
Respirator:
This mask helps you breathe without inhaling any toxic fumes. It is worn when
you are around a toxic area, when you’re welding, and when you’re
painting (mostly with spray paint). It filters the air we breathe in.
Steel-Toed Boots
These kind of boots are very useful when you’re around heavy objects.
They protect your toes from possibly being crushed.
Banded Earmuff:
These earmuffs are the best. They let you wear glasses with them
and they also protect your ears from loud noises.

This is only some safety gear, there are a lot more things you can use to protect yourself. Remember to always wear safety gear when you are around toxic or dangerous areas.

Know Your Rights - Social Studies Term 3 2018

What is the FTA? (Fair Trading Act) Know your rights

What is the Fair Trading Act?

Questions

  1. What is the Fair Trading Act?
Answer: A salesperson or company cannot mislead people into believing false facts. The Fair Trading Act makes it illegal to hand out false information about their products. About the quality, price, or features of any kind. This applies to all companies, whether it is a big organization, or a small, temporary company. It also includes advertisements, online sites, and social media. The rights to the customers need to be fair, whether you’re joining a gym, booking a flight, or purchasing a phone, the contracts need to be understood.

  1. What is the commerce commission’s goal?
Answer: Their goal is to make New Zealand better off by enforcing laws related to fair trading, sorts of contracts, responsibilities around electricity and gas lines, and telecommunications. Other things they’ll ensure is;
  • To make sure consumers are protected, and provided accurate data
  • Competitors understand the regulations and the rules need to be monitored
  • Market power is not to be used as any kind of advantage
  • The competition in a market is not to be lowered by agreements or mergers between companies
  • False or misleading data is to be addressed

  1. Who besides the commission is responsible for the act and can take their own legal action?
Answer: Other than the commission, other countries too have the right to take action and enforce laws. This allows the commission to gain knowledge and issues from other agencies and prepare.

  1. Who are the two types of groups the act applies to?
Answer: Customers and Consumers are protected by the Fair Trading Act.

Understand your compliance obligations;

  1. What do the acts apply to?
Answer: They apply to consumers under the acts, they protect them from hidden payments, false or misleading conduct, they provide information on the safety regulations of the products/goods and more.

  1. Does it only apply if you intend to deceive?  Explain?
Answer: If you deceive the organization by deliberately breaking or vandalizing a product and bringing it back expecting a refund -for example- a type of cream. If you poke a hole in the bottle and claim it was in this state when you bought it expecting a refund, the act applies if there is evidence of you breaking it. If the producer believes you did/didn’t do it, or doesn’t do anything -even though it’s wrong- the act still technically applies.

  1. Whose ‘shoes’ must the business put themselves into?
Answer: The customers/consumers. They need to feel how the consumer feels. If they were a customer, they wouldn’t want to be misled.

  1. What is the commission empowered to do?
Answer: The commission is empowered to influence the FTA act on the consumers, to make sure they know their rights and everything is fine on each side. They make sure the producers and companies are fair with each and every product, selling it to the consumers/customers, without click baiting or misleading. They can also control what is sold and what is not.

Reporting a business

  1. If you need to report a business, how do you do this?
Answer: If you are looking to make a complaint, you’ll need to find the email address or phone number to the company you wish to ask. Make sure you understand the contract, talk to the business, make sure to stay calm, know what you are reporting, file the complaint, and keep records on the conversation. You can do this either online, by the phone, or visiting the local whereabouts.
