Carbohydrates - HEc - Term 4

Carbohydrates

Simple
Simple carbohydrates are basically just sugar. Fructose and Glucose. Sugar is found from fruits (fructose). The sugar is found in fruit and dairy products.

Complex
Complex carbohydrates are mostly starchy foods. Like grains, oatmeal, and potatoes.

Sources
Complex carbs are found in bread, beans, and corn, etc.
Simple carbs are found in sweet foods, like unhealthy cereal, or lollies, and fizzy drinks.

What Is Their Function?
Simple carbs usually last a shorter amount of time but complex carbs last a lot longer. For example, if you had chocolate chip biscuits for lunch, you'd be starving by dinner. But if you had a whole meal sandwich you wouldn't be so hungry.

Why was our Pita Pocket^ such a good source of CHO?
Because it had a lot of healthy things like tomato, and lettuce, and then it had chicken. We only had one each, but it was very filling.
