P.E - Semester One - Improvements

Physical Education

For the past couple of weeks in P.E, we've been practising for athletics. We've been working on, discus, shot put, sprints, triple jump, long jump, javelin, and high jump.

Have I made any improvements in any sport over the past few weeks?
Yes, I have. I have improved in javelin. I didn't know the exact way to hold or throw it, and now I do. I'm still not the best, but I've improved. I also improved in triple jump. I'm also not very good, but I know how to do it- and what it actually is now.

Have I received any compliments?
Not really, but a few. My teacher complimented me on the way I held the javelin, and my friends complimented me at long jump. Well, they just cheered me on and supported me when I made the jump.

The Slave Trade Triangle - Social Studies

Slave Trade Triangle

I know it's a bit blurry but it's basically just saying where the different towns are. Like Dakar, Cacheu, Freetown, and Charleston. We had a bit of a problem locating Charleston because there's a Charleston, and a Charlestown, but I figured it out in the end (I think). I also drew lines from where the ships sailed and little descriptions about what they did with slaves.

English Creative Writing - 21/2/19

English Creative Writing

In English, for the past two weeks, we've been working on a group of things. Language Features, Haiku, Slam Poetry, Sensory Language, and Metaphors and Similes. Other people in my class created theirs on separate blog posts using online apps like Piktochart. But I chose to use plain old Google Slides on one blog post. I hope you enjoy learning the following slides and learn as much as I have.

Human Rights - Social Studies 2019 - Semester One

Human Rights

In Social Studies we've been learning about Human Rights. We needed to find out as much as we could on the subject and then make a poster about it. Some of us did it digitally and others (like myself) did it by hand. I wrote down what human rights actually are, and then I wrote down as many of them I could (25 out of 30). I also drew a few pictures.

Toning - Art - Semester One 2019

Toning - Art

Have I improved my understanding of toning/shading?
Yes, I have, I know that toning a shape can give it more... shape. And make it look more realistic. It can also make a piece of art pop.

Do I understand that drawing using structure can help to draw better?
Yes, using a ruler or straight edge (or not) to line the shape as you draw can make it look tidier and more professional.

What am I going to work on going forward in pencil drawings in and out of class?
I'm going to work on giving the shape straighter, tidier edges and a darker shadow. Below is my drawing I worked on and as you can see the sides are quite uneven and I intend to work on it. I'll also tidy up the background on the wall too.

Creative Writing - Cute Little Intruder - English

Cute Little Intruder

It was there and then gone.
Why would a rabbit be on my bathroom floor?

I was walking from my bedroom to my bathroom to brush my teeth when I heard rustling from behind my shower curtain. My heart started beating faster and faster as I headed towards it.

I swung open the curtain-
But nothing was there. I frowned. I turned around and a squeal erupted from my throat. A rabbit was there in front of me, its whiskers were vibrating as its nose sniffed the air. It was a small grey ball perched upon two of its legs while the other two were tucked under its belly. I sighed and bent down. It hopped forward twice and leaned in, sniffing my finger.

I pounced forward and grabbed it, scaring it, but then it regained posture. It dug it's head in my elbow and stayed still. I giggled when I felt its whiskers tickling my arm.

"You're way too nice to be wild. Who's pet are you-"

"Dusty!" I heard a small voice shout from outside my open window.

"Aha. I see you snuck out. Naughty bunny." I said and stroked the top of his head. I went to the door and noticed it was open ajar.

"And I'm guessing this was where you snuck in." I sighed.

I opened the door wider and walked out, the bunny lifting its head and identifying its surroundings. Its ears flung up at the sound of the little boy's voice.

"Dusty! Where are you boy?"

I opened the small fence at the front of my house and the boy looked my way. He gasped when he noticed I was holding his pet.

"There you are you silly bunny. I was so worried!"

I handed him over. "Thank you, miss!" He said as he kissed the top of Dusty's head.

"No worries kiddo. Dusty can come over and visit whenever he likes- but, he must ask permission from you first of course." I laughed.

The little boy giggled and thanked me yet again. He waved goodbye and walked back to his house I assume.

I did the same and closed the door behind me. "What a cute little intruder." I giggled.

22nd November - Passion Projects - Documentary

Passion Projects

So far we haven't really done anything more since Monday. Apart from filming a little? I'm not sure. But I wanted to share our Draw.io plan which is basically everything each member is contributing to;

If you aren't able to read it properly, I've written it out below;

Myself- The manager. I'm apparently shooting the photography, writing the paperwork, designing and more on the presentation side of things.
Dylan- The assistant manager (if I'm not at school, she's the manager) she's emailing and contacting people for permission, writing the paperwork too, and researching.
Kiera & Neika- They're editing the films, promoting the documentary, and coming up with the questions to ask for the documentary.
Gary & Jordan- They're taking the pictures, filming (the documentary), and Gary's the voice behind it (asking the questions).

So,

I'll keep updating our progress during each lesson.
