Cute Little Intruder
It was there and then gone.
Why would a rabbit be on my bathroom floor?
I was walking from my bedroom to my bathroom to brush my teeth when I heard rustling from behind my shower curtain. My heart started beating faster and faster as I headed towards it.
I swung open the curtain-
But nothing was there. I frowned. I turned around and a squeal erupted from my throat. A rabbit was there in front of me, its whiskers were vibrating as its nose sniffed the air. It was a small grey ball perched upon two of its legs while the other two were tucked under its belly. I sighed and bent down. It hopped forward twice and leaned in, sniffing my finger.
I pounced forward and grabbed it, scaring it, but then it regained posture. It dug it's head in my elbow and stayed still. I giggled when I felt its whiskers tickling my arm.
"You're way too nice to be wild. Who's pet are you-"
"Dusty!" I heard a small voice shout from outside my open window.
"Aha. I see you snuck out. Naughty bunny." I said and stroked the top of his head. I went to the door and noticed it was open ajar.
"And I'm guessing this was where you snuck in." I sighed.
I opened the door wider and walked out, the bunny lifting its head and identifying its surroundings. Its ears flung up at the sound of the little boy's voice.
"Dusty! Where are you boy?"
I opened the small fence at the front of my house and the boy looked my way. He gasped when he noticed I was holding his pet.
"There you are you silly bunny. I was so worried!"
I handed him over. "Thank you, miss!" He said as he kissed the top of Dusty's head.
"No worries kiddo. Dusty can come over and visit whenever he likes- but, he must ask permission from you first of course." I laughed.
The little boy giggled and thanked me yet again. He waved goodbye and walked back to his house I assume.
I did the same and closed the door behind me. "What a cute little intruder." I giggled.
