Identifying Hazard Signs


What is a hazard sign?
A hazard is a danger or risk that could possibly injure someone. It looks like a yellow triangle with the hazard in a black, bold figure. Possibly an exclamation mark. Below is an image of some hazard signs.


What is a prohibitive sign?
A prohibitive sign is something that you should not do. It is an image with a big red circle crossed through it. It could be a bike, as in do not ride your bike in this area, or a cigarette as in do not smoke. It is something that you don't do. Below is an image of some prohibitive signs.


What is a mandatory sign?
A mandatory sign is something that you should do. It is an image with a blue background and a white figure. It could be a boot, meaning you should wear the appropriate footwear. Or a person wearing a hat, meaning you should wear a helmet to protect your head. Below is an image of some mandatory signs.
