Stone Carving (Another Update)

Stone Carving

I've almost finished this project too, the next one is a candle holder (like I said in the last post). I just need to finish this one off and sandpaper it. I don't really know what this is, but I think it's just another decoration. I did make a little mistake near the bottom because I filed too low, and now it has more a chance of breaking. So now I just need to be more gentle while holding it and putting down, etc.

Stone Carving (Update)

Stone Carving

I finished my harakeke! I softened the inside of the hole with sandpaper, the flat sides, and the edges. I've moved on to a new project, it's the stone in the second photo, in the middle. The first one (candle) I'll be making last and the last one is the harakeke (those three stones were made by our teacher to look at for help).

Stone Carving (Update)

Stone Carving

I've started a new project! I finished my koru and I've moved on to harakeke (as you'll see from the pictures below). I did make a mistake once, by breaking one of the harakeke flaxes because I hit it too hard with the chisel and mallet. Next time I need to learn to be more gentle. I had to make it a little smaller, but I fixed it and now I just need to soften it with sandpaper.

Stone Carving (Update)

Stone Carving

This is an update from my last post, I have achieved a lot since last Monday (even though you didn't see it last time), and I've almost finished my first project. I just need to add some finishing touches.

Stone Carving

Stone Carving

This year for our Arts Festival, I'm doing stone carving with Mr Mitchell. I've almost finished my first carving (a koru), and next week I'm moving onto my second project. We work on this every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, periods one and two.

Should We Keep Cats Indoors?

Should We Keep Cats Indoors?

Why Should We Keep Cats Indoors?
As you can see from the picture below, cats are well known predators. They hunt rabbits, birds, rats, mice, lizards etc. I'm not sure if we should keep them inside, because they need to explore like us. But we could keep them secured in the back or front yard. And make sure they can't get out from under or over the fence.
